Utility Products & Systems
NEMA Members manufacture the components that help transmit and distribute electricity from the power plant to the outlet receptacle. From switchgear to surge arresters, from connectors to capacitors, if it is on the grid, NEMA members make it and sell it to electric utilities. They also provide the software and systems that control, protect, and automate smart, digitally connected versions of these products (e.g., smart meters), a trend recognized as the Internet of Energy.
The IIJA provides $48.78 billion in support for grid modernization, energy storage projects, cybersecurity upgrades, and improves policies to expedite the building of transmission lines, among other priorities.
NEMA will track closely and influence the implementation of these funds as they move through federal agencies, program offices, states, and specific program opportunities.
