NEMA advocates before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR staff and administrators on behalf of impacted Member companies and their products by staying involved and influential in proceedings that would establish new or revised programs, specifications, or test procedures. NEMA interacts regularly with EPA to ensure that anticipated and envisioned changes are considered fairly and accurately and with due regard to other regulatory and non-regulatory requirements outside of EPA purview. NEMA pushes for program requirements that are technologically feasible, fair and consistent with Industry needs and product design life cycles.
Products within NEMA scope covered by the program include Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Distribution Transformers, Lamps, Luminaires, Climate Controls, Battery Chargers, Electric Vehicle Charging Systems and connected appliances and devices associated with Smart Home Energy Monitoring Systems.
