Electroindustry Business Confidence Indices

The Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) indices gauge the business confidence of the electroindustry in Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America, and are based on the results of a monthly survey of senior managers at NEMA member companies. Those companies represent more than 80 percent of the electroindustry.

April 2012
NEMAs Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current North American conditions retreated nearly 13 points in April to 59.1, following a sharp run-up earlier in the year to its highest levels since 2005. Despite the slide seen in the latest month, the index continues to point to an economic environment conducive to industry growth. While the majority of survey panelists nearly 64% reported no change in business conditions from March to April, a sizable minority of over 27% said conditions improved. Only about 9% experienced deterioration in the business climate in April. In March, slightly more than half of the panel 52% reported conditions had improved relative to the previous month, 40% claimed they were unchanged, and 8% said they had worsened. Full Report (892KB)
