NEMA appreciates the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s efforts to harmonize climate-related disclosures through this final rule. Many NEMA members, both publicly and privately held, are already leading on similar global market-based efforts. Removing the Scope 3 reporting requirement is an important step in reducing significant compliance hurdles and will encourage many more companies to participate, including and especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
NEMA members are creating innovative products and systems that help companies reduce their direct Scope 1 emissions through energy efficiency, electrification, automation, energy management, grid enhancing technologies and moving towards EV fleets. We support reasonable efforts that enhance these technologies while reducing compliance burdens for manufacturers.
