Technology has enhanced nearly every aspect of electrical and medical imaging manufacturing. It is important, however, not to overlook the production workers who produce the lighting systems, electric vehicle components, building systems, and other electrical products and systems that embody those innovations.
Some manufacturers find it challenging to communicate quickly and seamlessly with their production workers. Paper-driven systems, phone calls, voicemails, and onsite briefings have their limitations. Some production workers do not have a corporate email account. In case of an emergency or other time-sensitive announcement, communication delays can be costly.
Some manufacturers have found that a text-messaging-based system of communication solves many of these challenges. Nearly all production workers have mobile phones. Messages and HR materials can be delivered in your employees’ native languages. Real-time surveys can be administered, allowing employees a sense of being heard.
Texting has become second nature to many of us. Using this easy and familiar technology to communicate with manufacturing production workers can help address some of the communication challenges facing manufacturers.
