2017 Hermes Awards

The National Association of Electrical Manufacturers (NEMA) won three platinum and gold awards in the 2017 Hermes Creative Awards, as well as a 2017 Azbee Award of Excellence. NEMA publications were chosen for these national awards from among thousands of entries from top companies across the country.

The highest honor, a Hermes Platinum Award, went to an article by Patrick Hughes, senior director of government relations and strategic initiatives at NEMA. The article, "Demystifying Blockchains," published in the January 2017 issue of electroindustry, breaks down the concept of blockchain technology and explains how its use will increase demand for distributed energy resources.

"NEMA is proud to see the creative work of our staff and contributors receive recognition outside the industry, beyond our 60,000 magazine subscribers and online audience of more than two million," said NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff. "This well-deserved honor for both our print and multimedia communications is a testament to the time and talent that goes into creating them."

NEMA also won Hermes Gold Awards for its 2016 annual report infographic, "The NEMA Advantage: 2016 Performance by the Numbers," and an identity video, "We Are NEMA." In addition, the front cover design of the September 2016 issue of electroindustry magazine, Grid Resilience: Come Hell or High Water, won an Azbee Award of Excellence.

Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional materials and emerging technologies. Administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the competition has grown to one of the largest of its kind in the world. Winners range from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies.

The highly competitive Azbee Awards celebrate the highest quality writing and design in business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications. Sponsored by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), the awards honor all types of publications including magazines, newspapers, newsletters, websites, and digital media.
