Advanced Manufacturing Committee
As more countries launch initiatives to promote advanced automation, the need for a cohesive and comprehensive U.S. strategy becomes increasingly important. To help address this gap, NEMA has created the Advanced Manufacturing Council. The goal is
to bring manufacturers and end-users together, develop and execute a strategic vision on the global stage, and promote the adoption of advanced manufacturing products and systems to make the U.S. more competitive in the global marketplace. The
NEMA Advanced Manufacturing Council will be the focal point of NEMA's efforts to develop a U.S. position and overall strategy to increase adoption and expand the market of Industrial Internet of Things/smart-enabled products and systems.
NEMA’s Advance Manufacturing work is supported by a partnership with the International Trade Administration—part of the U.S. Department of Commerce—through the Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP). NEMA was awarded an MDCP in October 2021 focused on expanding U.S. participation on technical standards related to advanced manufacturing systems and increasing U.S. exports
of advanced manufacturing systems.

NEMA’s Advanced Manufacturing Standards Roadmap
NEMA is developing an Advanced Manufacturing Standards Roadmap, which aims to identify gaps in standardization, as well as key priorities for standardization to support the sale and deployment of advanced manufacturing products and systems manufactured
by NEMA members. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) held a special meeting on advanced manufacturing standards on May 23, 2023, in conjunction with AUTOMATE in Detroit,
MI. During the forum NEMA presented an overview of its draft roadmap and sought feedback from participating companies and organizations.
