The Digitalization SI consists of three main parts:
1. To analyze requirements of Europe’s General Data Privacy Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act and assess implications for NEMA members;
2. To address artificial intelligence adoption barriers by filling standards gaps (e.g., testing) and advocating for sound AI regulations and legislation; and
3. To develop a platform for machine-readable standards
Successfully meeting the goals of this SI will require a mix of new and existing advocacy strategies on the state and federal level, educational programming to establish a baseline understanding among Members on these issues, and renewed member engagement and sharing of expertise. To help facilitate these activities, most of the SI will be addressed by the NEMA Cybersecurity Council and its Government Relations Committee.
