Disposal Ban
- Mercury-containing devices from all sources (thermostats, switches, relays, thermometers, manometers and other devices with liquid mercury – does not apply to lamps or batteries) are banned from the solid waste stream.
- Lamps from businesses may not be disposed at incinerators and no business may dispose of more than ten lamps per month except at a recycling facility or a hazardous waste facility

- Limits are 0.0004% mercury by weight for alkaline-manganese or zinc-carbon batteries that contain any intentionally introduced mercury - 25 mg mercury for BC batteries
Manufacturer Collection/Recycle
Notification
- The DEP is authorized to provide information materials about the energy efficiency of and disposal requirements for lamps
