As part of its Global Mission, NEMA opened its regional office in São Paulo, Brazil to facilitate members’ efforts to gain and maintain market access in Brazil and Mercosur.
Objectives:
- Technical product standards and installation codes that ensure that the products made both in Brazil and the U.S. can safely be used by customers in both countries.
- Conformity assessment processes that treat all manufacturers in a fair and equal manner.
- Inspection of electrical installation to ensure compliance with NBR 5410 and NBR 14039.
- A trade environment that ensures equivalent and competitive access to markets through the elimination of barriers to trade.
Activities:
Work with ABNT, and particularly with CB-03/COBEI, in the area of codes and standards.
Collaborate with Brazilian associations of manufacturers of electrical and lighting products, and other entities in the area of codes and standards, trade facilitation and market-related areas.
Organize, conduct and participate in technical seminars to provide information on a regular basis about NEMA members' products.
Collaborate with interested chambers, professional organizations and universities to ensure that NEAR projects provide value.
Support codes and standards harmonization activities through COPANT, IEC, and other organizations.
