Request for Proposal: Instant Start Lamp Ballast Testing

Laboratory Selection

NEMA plans to administer a certification program for instant start lamp ballast. On an annual basis, NEMA will select a significant portion of each participating manufacturer's production models to be tested by an independent laboratory under contract to NEMA. Units are tested using procedures stipulated in the corresponding NEMA standards and operational manual to verify that they meet the manufacturers' certified published performance claims. The certified data is kept in an online database accessible to the public.

NEMA is currently soliciting proposals for the 2008 program year, which begins in 2008. If your company has the ability to conduct product performance testing of high frequency lamp ballast, specifically instant start ballast, NEMA invites you to submit a proposal for the upcoming test year. Please keep in mind that NEMA certified products are shipped throughout North America, and therefore laboratories with NVLAP, ISO Guide 25, and ISO Guide 65 accreditations will be favored. For detailed information regarding instructions and the certification program work statement please follow the links below.

For consideration, Independent Laboratory proposals are due back to NEMA no later than 4 January 2008. NEMA requests that you submit a bound paper copy of your proposal to:

Joel Solis
Conformity Assessment Manager
National Electrical Manufacturers Association
1300 North 17th Street, Suite 1752
Rosslyn, VA 22209
703-841-3267

NEMA will review all proposals received and contact prospective contractors for additional information as necessary.
