Date: September 29-October 1, 2008
NEMA is once again joining with ALFA International to host the Product Safety and Liability Conference, September 29-October 1, 2008, in Memphis, Tennessee. This conference will bring together product liability attorneys and other experts to discuss a number of timely topics including trends in the law relating to design and warning defects, product recalls, managing the risks of sourcing goods from third parties, expected legislation amending the Consumer Product Safety Act, and “best practices” that address not only legal risks, but risks to your product’s reputation and brand name.
Included in the faculty is Randall Goodden, Chair of the American Society for Quality’s Product Liability and Prevention Committee and author of Product Liability Prevention: A Strategic Guide and Steve Hall of Applied Safety & Ergonomics in Ann Arbor, Michigan and current vice-chairperson of the ANSI Z535.6 subcommittee, which recently developed the American National Standard, Product Safety Information In Product Manuals, Instructions, And Other Collateral Materials.
Join these attorneys and product liability experts, and your peers with interest in this important and timely subject. The conference will address import issues, sourcing products from third parties, and cover the intellectual property owner’s viewpoint—product liability risks from licensing patents, counterfeit trademarks and copyrights.
The “nuts and bolts” of product liability law—liability for manufacturing, design and information defects—will also be covered. Experts will enlighten you about what is on the minds of two important constituencies: the jury in the courtroom and the jury of public opinion. Included in the conference is an opportunity to discuss particular issues with an attorney specializing in product liability “off the clock” during breakfast. For a complete schedule of sessions and meetings, see the program agenda.
We encourage companies to bring anyone involved in product liability and risk management to this important conference. You may register here.
We look forward to seeing you in Memphis.
