NEMA—Setting Standards of Excellence

NEMA is the trade association of choice for the electrical manufacturing industry. For eight decades, NEMA has been at the center of change in the most influential industry of the last century. Today, the association is more prominent than ever, and its reach, once limited largely to North America, is expanding globally.

NEMA promotes the competitiveness of its member companies by providing:

• The development of technical standards that promote fair competition by defining products and processes, leading to economies in production and elimination of confusion in the marketplace.
• A full range of lobbying services to its members, including policy analysis; development of industry positions; and the advocacy of industry positions to federal and state government, foreign governments, and international bodies that wield power in the global marketplace.
• Accurate and timely customized research, data collection, analysis, and forecasting to key decision-makers in NEMA member companies while maintaining the utmost confidentiality of company data.
• International programs designed to promote market access for members’ products. These activities include standards, trade, and conformity assessment. NEMA currently has offices in Brazil, China, and Mexico.

Categories of Membership

Full Membership: Corporations, firms, or divisions of companies that manufacture and/or design electrical products are eligible for full membership in NEMA.

Associate Membership:  Industrial suppliers; wholesalers/distributors; professionals in the financial, marketing, consulting, and legal communities; and others who provide services to the electrical manufacturing industry.
